The Update #3

Published by Marco Smolla on

Hello everyone! It’s June and about time for an update on what our society has been up to recently. You are hopefully getting ready for our annual workshop in Leipzig. We really hope to see you there!

The workshop preparations are going along nicely and the organising team has everything under control. Food is ordered. A social even (involving a beer garden) is organised. We even have the Max Planck Design team helping with the layout of the workshop program. If you are in fact participating, don’t miss our updated programme website. There are also information on how to prepare your laptop to get the most out of the workshop.

If you have a look at the program (or had a look at your calendar) you will also notice that we will have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday right after the last workshop session. If you have been at the workshop in St Andrews this will sound familiar to you. We will recap the societies development over the past 12 months (by the chair, i.e. me) and our financial situation (by the treasurer and vice chair, i.e. Edith). This is a great opportunity for your feedback and your wishes for the future of ESLR and we hope you will join us.

We will also talk about the future of our society journal, Cultured Scene. What topics would you like to read about or write about yourself? We welcome every workshop participant to volunteer a piece of writing about the workshop (whether it is a summary of the workshop or a more personal take on the visit in Leipzig).

Finally, if you haven’t already seen it on Twitter, Sabine Nöbel joined our committee team as our new social secretary/secretary. We are really happy to have her in our team.
